Reflex Spatial Light Modulator
Spatial light modulator (SLM) is a kind of device that can load information on one-dimensional or two-dimensional optical data field, so as to effectively use the proper velocity, parallelism and interconnection ability of light. Such devices under the control of time-varying electric driving signals or other signals, the amplitude or intensity, phase, polarization state, and wavelength of light distribution in space can be changed, or incoherent light can be converted into coherent light. Due to its nature, it can be used as construction units or key components in systems such as real-time optical information processing, optical computing, and optical neural networks.
Reflective liquid crystal spatial light modulator is a new type of reflective display technology that combines LCD and CMOS integrated circuits. As a new type of SLM, reflective liquid crystal light valve has many advantages such as high contrast, high light efficiency, high resolution, and power saving. Because reflective liquid crystal light valve technology utilizes silicon based CMOS integrated circuit technology to replace a-SiTFT array on glass substrate in a-Si TFT-LCD on a single crystal silicon chip. Moreover, it can integrate peripheral driving circuits and even integrate information processing systems. The reflective spatial light modulator can not only modulate the amplitude, but also achieve pure phase modulation.
